November 1, 2008 The current global financial crisis has had far reaching effects on all aspects of our society. In order to do their part and maintain a continued flow of electricity to their customers, JEA and Florida Power and Light have had to cut cost in all areas of their operations. Unfortunately some of the first causalities of a crisis of this magnitude are all non power producing expenditures and it is with great regret we inform you that all operations at the Pelotes Island Nature Preserve have been suspended. All programs scheduled after Dec. 1, 2008 are hereby cancelled. I would like to personally thank the many patrons of the Preserve for your dedication to the education of our youth and the enthusiasm with which you impart that education. It has been a pleasure to serve you and it is my hope that the many hardships put upon us during these troubling times will inspire us all to strive harder to instill the joy of learning.
