Volunteer Project
Africanized Honey Bees Survey

Thomas Mozer was commissioned by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to survey the movement and current location of Africanized honey bees.   From 1999-2000, he set out and monitored hives at the Preserve.  The pictures below show what the artificial beehives looked like at Pelotes Island.  Click here to learn more about bees.   No Africanized Honey Bees were found within the Preserve.
