Muscle scar

Color the outside of the oyster shells gray and white mixed together. The outside of the shells has tiny lines made when the oyster adds layers to its shell. If the animal is alive, you can only see the outside of the shells because it stays hidden inside. If you can see the inside of the shell, the animal isn’t in there anymore; (it’s been eaten). Color the inside of the shells white. Color the muscle scar purple. Oysters usually grow in groups all stuck together. These are called oyster beds.
